YOUTH

The FPC ‘Ohana is an intergenerational community where everyone, including young people, plays an essential role. As a young person, you’re not just the future church—you’re part of the church today. We believe that your voice, energy, and ideas matter now, and together with the whole church ‘ohana, we’re all growing and learning as Christ’s body.

High School

Our High School group is led by Christian Schroppel, who’s passionate about guiding students as they navigate life and grow in their faith. Christian creates a space where high schoolers can dig deeper into the big questions, build authentic relationships, and explore what it means to live for Christ in today’s world.

Middle School

Luke Shin leads our Middle School group, creating a fun and welcoming environment where 6th–8th graders can explore their faith and form meaningful friendships. Luke is committed to helping middle schoolers discover their identity in Christ while having a great time together through games, discussions, and activities designed just for them.

Ongoing Gatherings

Sunday Mornings

  • High School: Sunday mornings are all about serving! We are encouraging all of our high schoolers to get plugged in somewhere around the church to serve and get mentored. Reach out to Christian for serving opportunities (christian@!fpchawaii.org)

  • Middle School: We gather at 10AM for community and small groups downstairs (Ko’olau) in our middle school room except on the First Sunday of every month where we gather upstairs.

Friday Evenings

  • High School: Friday evenings start at 6pm with dinner, worship, and a short discussion on a relevant topic for high schoolers. We usually spend the rest of the evening hanging out and playing games until 9pm.

  • Middle School: Friday nights are a great way for us to connect and have lots of fun! These nights are more on the low-key side and consist of a short devotional, and discussion in small groups on a relevant topic for the youth. Then on the last hour we play games to connect and build community.

What can we expect at a Youth Gathering?

Expect a welcoming environment where students can connect with friends, engage in fun activities, and explore their faith through discussions, worship, and group time. We focus on creating a safe space where everyone feels included and can grow in their relationship with Christ.

Do I need to register to attend Youth Ministry events?

While registration isn’t required for most of our weekly gatherings, we encourage new students to fill out a simple registration form so we can get to know you better and provide any important updates. For special events or trips, we’ll have registration available online or in person.

Can my friends join even if they don’t attend the church?

Absolutely! We welcome all students, whether or not they attend First Presbyterian Church. Feel free to invite your friends to come and be part of our Youth Ministry. It’s a great way to share faith and build friendships together.

Let’s connect!

We’d love to hear from you! Whether you have questions, need support, or want to connect with our team, simply fill out the form below, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Your message is important to us.
